Relax into your Body: Massage
Are you relaxed in your Body or...?
Is your body not co-operating with you on all levels?
Are you tired and low on energy? Is your breathing superficial? Do you feel tense, unable to relax? Do you easily get a stiff neck and shoulders? How is your immune system working? Do you often get sick? Are you feeling pain in your arms, legs or back? Are you having trouble sleeping? |
Body, Mind & Emotions go hand in hand

In Western Medicine Body and Mind are ofte seen and treated as two separate entities (doctor vs. psychologist). The Eastern traditions, including Shiatsu massage and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), on the other hand, take the holistic view that Body and Mind form one whole. From this viewpoint it is obvious that physical problems will affect out mental and emotional state. Conversely, mental and emotional issues (e.g. worrying, fear, anger or sadness) will have an effect on the body.
If you are experiencing physical symptoms - unless they are the direct result of a physical trauma - chances are that there is an emotional and/or mental component involved. If you, for example, suffer from a stiff neck and shoulders, ask yourself the following: What (aspect of) reality do you feel the need to control? Are you taking on too much responsibility, carrying the world on your shoulders? If you have problems with recurring colds and different types of flu, there just might be a relationship with suppressed sadness or grief. Stomach and digestive problems go hand in hand with excessive worry. Headaches are typically related to frustration and (suppressed) anger. Just to name a few examples.

Creating lasting change
Within the framework of Shiatsu & TCM, when you get a massage, we are treating both the body as well as the mental and emotional parts of your system. Not only does the body relax, but the mind usually quiets down as well and suppressed emotions can be released during or after the massage. Over time, it is possible to learn to stay more and more in a relaxed state.
At the same time, in order to achieve the best results, it is also good to work directly on the other parts of the system (the Mind, Heart and let us not forget Spirit), e.g. through Life Coaching. I will also give you exercises, advice and tips on what you can do at home to speed up your process (of recovery). If you want lasting change - and you do, don't you? - you will have to make an effort yourself. I can (and will) help and support you any way I can, but in the end, you have to implement the changes. This means: doing the exercises, drinking more (or less), actually changing your food patterns (bit by bit) etc. so that you can learn to feel into the needs of your own body again. In the meantime, I will stay tuned to the changing needs of your body and together we will find solutions that work for you!
Now, I'm pretty lazy myself, so I always try to achieve maximum results with a minimum of effort. I have learned that small changes can have a big impact: 5-10 minutes a day is often enough to create lasting change. And once you realise how powerful small changes are, you will implement other changes more and more easily - and before you know it, you will be Relaxed in your Body and in your Life!

Shiatsu MassageShiatsu Massage (or acupressure) is a massage form that helps us to track and release blockages in the energy channels and organs of the body. As a result, the body is able to relax. As the energy can flow more freely again, we feel more energised and vigorous and many physical symptoms diminish or may even disappear altogether.

Trigger point TherapyTrigger points are local (painful) contractions in the muscle fibres that feel like small, hard nodules. Pressure on these points usually gives pain at the point itself, but often also creates so-called referred pain in other areas of the body. Trigger point Therapy helps alleviate and dissolve pain.
