Relax into your Body: Shiatsu Massage Principles
What is Shiatsu Massage?

Shiatsu Massage (or acupressure) is a massage form that helps us to track and release blockages in the energy channels and organs of the body. As a result, the body is able to relax. As the energy can flow more freely again, we feel more energised and vigorous and many physical symptoms diminish or may even disappear altogether. I work with Shiatsu Massage in combination with knowledge from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Within this framework I take both your current state as well as your constitution into account. Every time you come in for a treatment, we decide what will benefit you most at that specific moment. This means that every treatment is 100% customised to your individual needs. I massage with a lot of attention, constantly feeling what is happening in your body and what is needed. I help you to bring your attention to contractions and blockages, encouraging you to release them so that your energy can flow freely again.
Shiatsu Massage: How does it work?
Everything in the entire universe is made up of energy that resonates with different frequencies. In our body the energy moves along energy channels, or meridians with specific acupressure- (or acupuncture-) points. Every median also corresponds to a specific organ. Energy blockages in the meridians and organs can give rise to a variety of physical, emotional or mental symptoms. Pressure on acupressure points will affect the flow of energy in the meridians as well as physiological processes in the organs. This way, Shiatsu can help restore the natural balance of the body.
When can Shiatsu help me?

In general, Shiatsu is an effective form of therapy:
It is not necessary to have clear physical symptoms in order to benefit from a Shiatsu Massage. The flow or energy and balance of the body can always be improved. The sooner blockages are detected and treated - the fewer physical and emotional symptoms will appear. In that sense it is always better to prevent symptoms from arising at all than treating them after the fact.

- restoring the connection with the body (body awareness)
- learning to release contractions (in the body)
- restoring the balance between body and mind and
- against many stress-related symptoms.
