Relax into your Body: Massage Treatment & Options
I work with Shiatsu Massage (acupressure) and Triggerpoint Therapy in combination with knowledge from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). On this page you can read more about what happens during a session and the different Massage Treatments that are available at my practice.
Case History & Diagnosis

Before the first Shiatsu (or Life Coaching) consult, I will send you an extensive questionnaire via e-mail. In addition to questions related to the reason why you are seeking my services, you will also find various questions in relation to sleeping and eating habits, energy levels etc. This helps me understand your (energetic) health within the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) framework. You return me the completed questionnaire before the first session. This way I can prepare optimally for our first meeting. During the Intake we will go through the questionnaire and add more specifics if needed. This process usually takes about 45 minutes.
This is followed by the diagnosis. I will look at your tongue, feel your pulse and do a hara-diagnosis (feeling your belly). This will provide a lot of information about the state of your meridians and organs. On the basis of the case history and diagnosis, I will put together an individually tailored treatment that will be most beneficial for you that day. The first Massage is always a long, therapeutic treatment. This gives us time and space to get to know each other, so that you will be able to relax optimally.

Shiatsu Treatment Options
The goal during a Shiatsu treatment is to find and release blockages in the meridians or in different parts of the body. Contractions and blockages can arise as a result of too much or too little energy (or trauma). By applying pressure, doing a rotation, stretching or using another technique, I draw your attention to the blockage so that you can become aware of where you are contracting in your body. As a result of this awareness (sometimes aided by breathing or the making or sounds), 'empty' areas will receive energy and 'full' areas can release and disperse the excess - and your energy can move more freely again. I continue diagnosing and feeling into you throughout the treatment and naturally adapt my approach accordingly.
General ShiatsuGeneral Shiatsu (relaxation) Massage is recommended when you have few or no complaints.

Therapeutic ShiatsuTherapeutic Shiatsu Massage is recommended when your system is out of balance and you have (more) physical complaints, or if you want to enjoy a longer relaxation massage. If required, I can combine the Massage with Triggerpoint therapy. This is s treatment with:

I massage people with their clothes on. Therefore it is handy to wear soft, loose clothes during the massage, such as a legging or jogging pants and a T-shirt (possibly with long sleeves, if you easily get cold).
